Peretele Împletit

Visual rehabilitation · 14 October 2019 · By Grafo Dragoș, Violeta Dalas, Harcea Pacea.

Painted on the façade of the Salubris building (“Dubeț’s Pyramid”), the mural combines monumental typography with geometric surfaces and layers of organic lines. The work was carried out as part of the project “Iași — Youth Capital of Romania” (2019–2020), and the text integrated on the wall — “Lumi create / Lumi creează” (“Worlds created / Worlds create”) — takes a quote from Levantul by Mircea Cărtărescu about the dynamics of creation, moving it straight into street art.

The choice proved prophetic: over time, the coloured wall became a living surface for the young community of Cantemir, who added tags, names and messages over the wavy background. In this way the work created, in turn, other “worlds” and a new layer of urban dialogue directly with the neighbourhood.
